ABOUT THE "SEAHAM HARBOUR ONLINE" WEB SITE

The purpose of "Seaham Harbour Online" Web site is to promote the communities of Seaham Harbour and the neighbouring villages of Murton, Dalton-le Dale and Seaton. But it is much more than that. We intend that this project will:
  1. contribute towards developing, within the wider community of Seaham, a better knowledge and understanding of the power and convenience of the internet.
  2. promote and actively support the development of internet related skills and knowledge within all sections of the wider community of Seaham including:
  3. identify and communicate the value of the internet as a potentially important element in managing the changes involved in the regeneration of the town and its wider environment.
  4. promote the development of internet facilities within our town and villages. This includes public access facilities.
Putting a town on to the 'Net is a major undertaking which needs the support of all the local community if it is to succeed. The "Seaham Harbour Online" project is being provided and facilitated through a local partnership consisting of Dalton Internet, The Seaham Initiative, East Durham College, Seaham & District Chamber of Trade and Seaham School. It is being launched in the knowledge that there is a lot to learn about how the internet might be exploited for the benefit of everyone in our community. In the coming months there are other related initiatives planned, particularly by East Durham College. Watch out for them! Any ideas you may have for the development of this site would be greatly appreciated. You may contact us through e-mail or by telephone (0191 581 4467).
