DONATIONS
The task before SDVT Banner Fund is not simply to raise enough money to purchase new banners.  This is important since the old ones are no longer in good enough repair to carry in to Durham Miners Gala or anywhere else.  We must, therefore, raise enough money to conserve the old banners.  It is the old banners  which are steeped in so much of our history.  They have waved majestically to to the music of  brass bands over so many years.  They have seen the good times and they have been draped sadly in black when friends and marras lost their lives at work.  We must conserve them so that they are fit to be proudly displayed so that  future generations can see them and appreciate their beauty and dignity.  
To conserve the old banners will cost  in the region of £13,000 EACH.  It is difficult and skillful work but it is very expensive. We also need to fund a Heritage Centre to house them and this task will be beyond our means unless we work in partnership with others to purchase a community facility.  We are already engaged in doing this and are hopeful that success in this direction will not take too long.
