Well it finally happened! The new Parkside and District Community Association centre was finally opened on Tuesday 16th July 1996.
A lot of hard work had gone into the preparations and there were some important guests in attendance including, the Mayor of Seaham, Cllr.Mrs Margaret Nugent; the Chairman of Easington District Council, Seaham councillor Danny Myers and the Chairman of Durham County Council, Cllr J.Walker.
During the opening ceremony Cllr Myers handed over the keys of the centre to schoolboy Oliver Brown who won the Logo Competition and to Mrs Agnes Richardson the eldest resident of Parkside.
Afterwards there was a Sherry Reception and Management Committee Chairman, Kevin Alderson introduced the Guest Speakers.
We have put together a gallery of photographs to record something of the occasion for our friends world-wide.
