SCHOOL CLOSURES

We hope it did not inconvenience you too much but with the temperatures of 50°F in school it was impossible to open the school.

We would like to invite any parents in the Owls class to share a lunchtime with the children on Wednesday 16th February. If you would like to order a school lunch costing £1.60 please speak to Mrs. Reid in the School Office.

SCHOOL STARTING TIME

Just a reminder that the school starting time is 9.00 am. The register is taken immediately the children are in the classroom so registration is closed by 9.05 am. Children who come to school after this time are marked as late in the register.

NEWSLETTER 17
7 January 2005

Dear Parents,

We wish a very happy new year to all our families and know that 2005 will be another successful year for the school.

The year has started well for the school as it has been included on a new Ofsted Database listing all the particularly successful schools in England and Wales. This news is being released to the media today and as soon as I have a web address I will let parents know.

We need your help!

It is very important that our parents “spread the news” about our success so that the school can build up its numbers again after all the upheavals in Parkside. If you know of a new family moving into the area why not suggest that they visit Parkside first. We need the wider community to know that there is an award winning school on the doorstep!!

After School Clubs

School Clubs start again next week.

We encourage all children in the Eagles and Owls to stay behind for these clubs, especially if they have not stayed before. Please ask for a consent form if your child has not previously attended.

The Eagles have their after-school club on a Monday night finishing promptly at 4.00 pm.

The Owls have their club on a Tuesday night finishing at 4.00 pm.

This term the ‘Night Owls’ will be focusing on musical activities.

On Thursday night a KS1 Gymnastics Club will run at Parkside for Camden Square, Deneside and Parkside children. Eight children have been chosen to attend and these children will have a consent form attached to this newsletter. This club starts on Thursday 13th January and will finish at 4.30 pm. Children will need to be collected from the School Hall. Please ensure the children have suitable shorts and t-shirts to wear.

Breakfast Club

Just a reminder that Breakfast Club will start again on Monday 10th January at 8.15 am and will continue on Wednesday and Friday mornings. All children are welcome.

PERMISSION FOR PHOTOGRAPHS The governors would like signed permission from every parent to take, use and store photographical images of their child when it is necessary either to record events or as part of the curriculum. This is what the school has always done but as most images are now digital the governors felt that permission should be obtained.

Please sign the enclosed consent form and return it to school as soon as possible. If a consent form is not received it could mean your child will not be able to appear in any photographs or videos. In some cases they might have to withdraw from an activity if the other children need to be photographed. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
