Local Miners' Lodge Banners

No one who has attended the Durham Miners' Gala could fail to have been moved by the nostalgic music of the brass bands marching before thousands of miners and their families into the beautiful City of Durham. Each Miners' Lodge followed behind its own banner, often draped in black in recognition of those who had lost their lives at work that year. Here are the Lodge Banners for the four collieries in the Seaham and Murton area of County Durham.
