BARRY SUTHERLAND who was born in Seaham and gave his life at the age of 12 trying to save a young girl from drowning near the Featherbed Rocks in 1961. A football tournament was set up to be played for by local primary schools and is still played today. Barry was from a large family and many of his relatives still live in Seaham today.
