CHILDREN’S HERITAGE VISITS
We visited houses in the old town. The houses we saw would be like the houses our grandparents or great-grand parents would have lived in when the coal mines in Seaham were still working. Some had Christmas decorations.
We also visited the old dentist’s surgery.
The instruments and facilities were really crude compared with our dentist. We heard some real “horror stories about what it was like to go to the dentist’s in those days.
Poor old grandad.
After the dentist’s a visit to see how sweets were made was a nice change - until someone mentioned that sweets aren’t good for the teeth.
