SOME FACTS ABOUT THE TEAM
Seaham's First Responder team was set up in May 2005 as part of a national scheme.
    - All First Responders teams are voluntary organisations that try to preserve life in the local community.
    - The team's work covers the whole of the Seaham district.
    - The four members of the Seaham First Responders team share just ONE Responders Kit.
    - the Kit contains a defibrillator, resuscitation masks, gloves and some ancilliary equipment.
    - each Responder is qualified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of the defibrillator.

WHY ARE WE IMPORTANT TO SEAHAM?
The pressure on the emergency services has never been greater than it is today.

But for all the advances we have seen in medical science one of the most important factors involved in the full recovery of emergency patients is still the response time of the emergency services.
Because the First Responders live in the local area they hope to get to any patient within 5 minutes.  This is faster than an ambulance is usually able to get there and this greatly increases the chances of the patient making a full recovery.

We believe that this project can help save lives of those people who live in and around our own homes BUT we need your help.
