A major element of Project 2006 is to have two miners banners conserved for future generations. The Seaham Lodge and the Dawdon Lodge banners were taken on 13th June 2006 to the Textile Conservation Studio of Jacqueline Hymen in Altrincham.
For the children of the seven schools involved in the project the conservation process presents an opportunity to to see the damage to the banners, learn how it was caused, how it can be avoided, how the banners are conserved and they will even be able to participate in the conservation work.
The following pages record the process as it happens. Some links will not be active until that part of the process has been completed.
