The Centre is a well equipped building overlooking the historic Port of Seaham.  It is an all-year-round Centre with opportunities for a variety of educational visits under the guidance of an experienced teacher.  The local environment is used as widely as possible to introduce children and adults to the history, geography, geology, flora & fauna and industry of Seaham Harbour.

Parties welcomed are:

schools and further and higher education students
  teachers and lecturers
youth and adult community groups with a general or
      specialised interest

Study areas include:
the busy commercial port not accessible to the general
        public
the fishing dock
Red Acre Point and the cliffs, beach and rock pools
beach and cliff-top walks
the town of Seaham
the early settlement of Seaham in the area of Seaham Hall

Programmes are tailored to the needs of visitors and for schools may be closely linked with the needs of the National Curriculum. Conducted walks may be arranged for adult parties within the town and more widely within the East Durham area
