And furthermore, Nobby, you're clearly a half witted common little
git and if I wasn't so high on the love of the good lord Jesus I'd come
over there and tan your cotton picking hide. Yee Hah.............and praise

Nobby, Max the Crazy, Ex Seaham or whatever else you want to call
yourself, I feel sorry for the person you assume this is. I can only guess
that you were a bully in school and you are now trying to get your bullying
frustrations out on this web site. Why don't you go to a chat room where
people like you are a "dime a dozen." Since you OBVIOUSLY don't have a
dictionary, a "dime" is one tenth of a dollar (a currency commonly used
in the US).

This is for the one that is unsure as to what I mean by "civil".
If you have a dictionary at your disposal, please review the word. It
means - POLITE, PROPER, CIVILIZED OR BEFITTING A CITITZEN. Are we now clear
on the difinition of "CIVIL"? Also I did not forget to identify myself,
it was intenional and that is my right as an INDIVIDUAL!!!

Just putting your cliche-ridden narrative to one side for a moment,
I for one am a little unsure as to what exactly you mean by "civil." Do
you mean as in individual? In which case why are you allowed rights that
you are apparently suggesting others should be denied? I can't say I agree
with much of the comment here, but I will certainly defend the right of those
making them. The trouble with firing a verbal shotgun is you are likely to
claim hits on more than you intended. You demean your own comment by the way
when you forget to identify yourself. Max The Crazy at least uses one of
his many aliases. He may appear to be a nutter, but he's an ingenuous nutter!

I have been reading this website for the last two years (as I am
myself an ex-seaham PERSON) I can't believe the ingnorance that exists in
some parts of the world. Get it together, move on and get a life. I have
not heard such stupid comments from people since I was a child. GROW UP!!!!
Please leave this site open for civil human beings that want to stay in
touch with "HOMELAND". Need I say more.

Who's this that's doing a poor impressionation of me? He gives himself
away by his misspelling of the name of the divine one MADHEED. On the other
hand it's true that I did visit England/Seaham/The Mill Inn in hope of
meeting his MADHEEDness. Shocked was I to find no LCL, No Red Seats of Home
and no MADHEED! The situation was made worse by the startled incomprehension
of the bar staff who, under questioning, all hid in the cellar. The sign
saying "No Drugs" WAS a disappointment. How did they manage to run out of
stock during the holiday season? Seaham's not what it was! One small point
- who nicked the off sales hatch? I fancied a bag of crisps!

Ex Seaham - if you feel so much disdain for Seaham and its residents
then why do you visit this site so much? Is your life outside of Seaham
so empty that you've nothing else to do, except surf, and put other people
down in attempt to make yourself feel better? You may (or may not) have
left Seaham, but have you seem to exhibit all the self loathing of a wolf
in sheep's clothing. Instead of calling other Seahamites knobheads why don't
you just get a life of your own? Go on, lead us by your example, oh sucessful
one.

overlooked the fact that some dumbos had escaped too. How can I meet you
when you come to Seaham when I don't live there anymore and I don't have
a valid visa in my passport for the land of knobheads. Anyway, I left school
in 73 so we're a different generation. The boy Purdy was in the same year
as me. Wonder if he remembers his wonderful performance in the sixth form
concert. Who were the other people with him?

Nobby, Have you not realised that all the bright people left Seaham
and as a result of the inbreeding between the thickies that got left behind
the gene pool has regressed so that all the people born since 1970 are plain
stupid? You only have to read their messages to see this.

Susan Seaton, treat your visit to Seaham like a visit to Bosnia
or Beirut during the worst of their troubles. There is no best place to stay
in Seaham. Stay in Durham City or take your caravan to Finchale Priory just
outside Durham. If you can, hire a native guide to help you find the local
must see sights ( err OK there are none once you've seen the Harbour ) and
interpret the devilishy difficult local dialect. It's amazing how a seemingly
random series of monosyllabic grunts can contain so much meaning. Go and
see MADHEED and his chums supping their LCL at The Mill ( keep the motor
running ) and make a quick getaway to a place that has more than 10% of the
adult population in work.

Good day! I am planning to visit Seaham and the surrounding area
this coming summer. My grandmother was apparently from Seaham Harbour,
however I am having trouble finding any information from our family members
who are still alive, who might remember anything. My grandmother was
Martha Ann Cox - with a brother Harold. Her parents were I believe William
and Julia Cox (ne: Julia Parsons or Parkins) If anyone has any info on
this family past, please drop me a line at sseaton@rockyview.ab.ca I
am planning the trip for my moms 60th birthday, and would also love some
ideas about site seeing, places to visit etc... Any suggestions on lodging
as well, I plan to tour England via caravan but would like to stay in the
occational hotel. I look forward to hearing from anyone in the area or
surrounding area who could give me a hand. Susan Seaton

Hopes for 2001:- The Bus Station is demolished and the cretin
who allowed it to be built originally, is standing in it when it goes down.
Easington District Council (does it really exist or are all those orange
vehicles just a perk for the chosen few to collect their giros?) does something
to keep St. Johns churchyard footpaths clear of vomit, dog crap and mindless
graffiti, its disgusting, never mind for visitors, what about those of us
who live and work AND PAY COUNCIL TAX. This also applies to the precinct,
then again why not just flatten it and start from scratch, folks from Peterlee
must think we are puddled when you see what they have for facilities.
How about a team of security guards for Seaham Library so you actually feel
safe using it after sunset!!!!! the lasses in there should be getting danger
money. The banning of women wearing leggings and shell suits, WHY do these
people think the bigger they are the tighter the leggings and more colourful
should be? One of these offenders bent down infront of me in Herons and I
lost 4 minutes of daylight before she stood up again. Anyway, thats
my hopes for 2001, whats everyone else got to ssay, and please, next time
you answer your mobile phone in Quick Save as you adjust the gusset on your
skintight leggings whilst shouting at the top of your voice, please rest
assured that those of us who dont reside in the gutter are thinking YOU SAD

Quite some time since I visited the Guest Book and nice to see a
lot of old names that I recognise, especially those of the teachers from
the old SGTS, (unfortunately becoming the Seaham Comp in early 70's). I
started SGTS in 1965 with contempories such as Alf Shields, Alan Guy, Trevor
Lee, Steve Lindsay, Stewart Grieve, Eddie Curtis, Richard Hughes, Iany Bell,
Ritchie Knox, Margaret Ritchie, Linda Legge,Ann Purcell, Joy Oliver, Dot
Hampton, Naomi Readman and so forth and so on, I could continue all night,
and thankfully, some of whom I still keep in touch with (Linda, I promise
I'll e-mail you shortly!!). In those days, teachers really were scary
and I well remember Johnny Redhead, David Garrett, Alan Westmorland, Dicky
Goodliffe, Alan (Chain) Johnson, Ken Foulds, "Sinbad" Cummings and of course,
the "Jeg" himself, David Martin, the headmaster (remember when he fell off
the stage one morning at the start of assembly?). Then we get onto the
really scary set, which for some reason were all female, Miss Ferguson, Miss
Wake, Miss Robison (Nana),Miss Stokoe, all of whom could quite easily have
given Lennox Lewis a reasonable run for his money or feature in the current
All-Blacks side. The glamour at the time, if I recall correctly, was provided
by Miss Pickering, Gill Manders,Wendy Westmorland, Yvette Martin, Pat Forrester,
(whose husband Dick was also a teacher there)Mrs Offer and a lady by the
name of Miss Beaney who, I think taught drama and who most of us lads had
the hots for. The comedy and light entertainment was provided by Mr Pye
(naturally), Ken Ure, Mr Coates, Mr McKeag (whose brother was a director
of NUFC, thereby automatically condemning the entire family to immediate
execution), Tommy Oliver (RAF hero of the second world war and metalwork
teacher extrordinaire) and a small, be-spectacled guy (Mr Sugarman??) who
I think taught French or RK, and always wore light coloured suits which were
a natural target for Noel Cowley's fountain pen ink blots down the back of
his jacket. Obviously there were some other characters who could not easily
be pigeon-holed like Derek Shute (had gallons of Brut on draught, and I don't
mean the champagne, smelled like a hower's handbag), Jack Thompson (bit of
a lad, mind you, on the quiet),Eden Buckham, Mr Bell, Mr Atkinson and so
on. All happy days and memories, even more so since it is well over 25
years since we all left school and I don't think teachers, characters, like
that exist any more. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has any memories
from that era, or who remembers either me, or any of the reprobates that
we went to school with. Compliments of the season to all back home in
Seaham, wherever you live now.

To Brian of Oz;I was at the SMS 1951-55 and don't recall any teacher
by the name of Tarzan, nor the incident described.I might have recalled
it, because I was a candidate for being thumped on a regular basis by all
of the teachers at one time or another, including one spectacular occasion
by the Head of St'Josephs's next door.My fame had obviously spread over
the wall. Ed, I would tend to ignore the protestations of the Mad one as
being just that. If he has a genuine complaint and fails to make use of
the means available to him, through you, then he's either too thick or someone
who simply likes to moan a lot.Given his semi-literate rantings,I'm inclined
to the former.

What wonderful memories the recent comments about Northlea School
have rekindled, Miss Robisons smartie parties were as infamous as her stutter
and her ability to talk very quietly to you, just before she lost her rag,
2 inches from your ear. Surely the most stunning teacher was Mrs Manders,
Seahams answer to Sophia Loren, totally glamorous and never a raised voiced,
while she regaled the class with her stories of air travel during the days
of luxury in the skies, pre-charter-flights. Miss Wake would always be
standing by, ready to whip your recently purchased cold drink from the machine
which hardly ever worked, no need for words, just "the look." And as you
stood at the drinks machine Marion Kenworthy would pass by, tip tap tip
on her heels heading back to the cookery rooms where the smell of freshly
burnt rock buns signalled the completion of year 1`s first attempt at cooking.
The cookery department wasnt short of glamour either, and Eileen Hall, dripping
in jewellery and nail varnish would be in the middle cookery room, whilst
Mrs Musgrave ("lets get this roly poly on the table") was located towards
the business studies and language labs end. To many pupils, Mrs Westmorelands
sister, Nancy Haugstad had a personality that would freeze water, which
was unfortunate, for in reality she was "a lady" whose talents were not
only obvious in the subject which she taught but also the motivation that
she instilled in those who were lucky enough to have her as a form and subject
teacher. I always remembered Linda Balmer as a French teacher and the un-forgetable
afternoon when she wasted 10 metres of Sticky-backed-plastic, trying to
cover a poster of French foods, Mr Taylor also took French, thats if he
hadnt fallen asleep in his study. The high spot of the week for many was
social studies with Trevor Lowther, where he would sit on his desk and continually
thread his wedding ring onto his leather watchstrap. I also remember Mr
Colby, he was a very quiet man, and, whilst he wasnt really up to the rigors
of comprehensive teaching, I cant see anything to be proud of, in admitting
to taking part in the ridicule and assault of someone who was obviously
troubled with nerves. Those who boast about such actions should think on,
that what goes around, comes around also. The atmosphere of the school changed
completely with the arrival of Mr Telford, aloof, remote and unlike Mr Miles,
he took no part in teaching throughout the school, as the likes of Theo
Ferguson and Miss Wake retired, discipline and respect for the teaching
staff began to wane and a very noticeable increase in short term staff was
noted. We lost the posh kids from Cleadon and Whitburn and the final insult
came with the demise of the sixth-form facility, transferred to the cultural
mecca of East Durham, Peterlee, not however, before its rumoured that the
whole sixth-form was laid low by a giant chocolate cake laced with laxative
icing!! or was that an urban myth? Does anyone else have memories, fond
or otherwise of this once great school. P.S. If we had worn our ties in
a huge knot as is todays fashion Mrs Tait would have had our guts.

Message for Mad Max(alias Anon). Seaham Town Council considered the
road safety issue at George Street at the recent Planning Committee. The
responsibility is with Durham County Council. Barriers will be erected
after Christmas. Please note that you ignored my request for information
about local incidents and people to talk to. Why not Max? It was a reasonable
request and could have saved me time. Time for which I am not paid by the
way. Maybe you ought to review your reasons for insisting on your anonymity.
If you have something worthwhile to say you don't need it.

I left Seaham Northlea in 1981. There were some good teachers in my
time- Mr Goodliffe (Maths) was easily the best. One or two others stick
in the memory for other reasons. Mrs Balmer was allegedly an English teacher,
Miss Robison for her ledgendary Smartie Parties, Madame Morden the French
teacher from Rumania who couldn’t speak English and the impossibly sexy
Mrs Westmorland. Like an earlier correspondent I also had my name spelled
out on my backside by Mr Redhead’s rounders bat but managed to avoid Mr
’Steve’ McGarratt’s slipper- lovingly named ’Sam’ and Mr Weetman’s terrifying
plank.

We have recently traced our family of LYNNs back to Seaham, starting
at (what is now) Dawden Hill Farm in 1841, through to the late 1890's.
Are there any photos of the farm from 19th or 20th centuries? Back in the
1870's Robert Lynn ran the Foresters Arms, 10 North Railway Street. Anyone
remember this pub before it was demolished in 1959 ... any photos of the
front? Anyone else have any connection with LYNNs still in the town that
may be related - I believe a related John Lynn was listed in Trade Directories
as a Cartage Contractor until at least 1938? Other families that intermarried
with the Lynns include REED, ALLISON, STONEHOUSE, CURRY, ROBSON, HASWELL,
WATSON, BAMB[O]ROUGH and VEALE. Visited Seaham (briefly) for the first time
a couple of weeks ago: felt very much at home ... and thanks to the helpful
staff in the library and Princess Road Cemetery. Karen, Bristol

So glad someone remembers the names of teachers, guess the girls never
saw the bad side of Mr Redhead, we thought he was cute. Miss Wake was amazing
it always puzzled us how she knew if the girls werent wearing uniform underwear.
She used to stand outside the doors to the hall and pull you out of the
line if you werent wearing the correct uniform. Mr Miles (Batman) used to
stand on the stage in his huge black cape and lecture us. I remember on
of the kids would cough and that would start everyone off, he used to get
so mad. In them days we were afraid of some of the teachers, these days
they are more like friends I dont think my kids have nearly the same respect
we had for our teachers (or was if fear). I remember going on strike at
school once the whole school stood outside and Mr Miles had to come out
and tell us to get back I think we lasted about 30 mins cant remember what
we were on strike for.

I had forgotten about Mr. Pye, we never did much music with him never
could understand the poetry he gave us. Mr Johnson was my math teacher
and we always got him off the subject of math to anything we could think
of. All the girls thought Mr. Redhead the PE teacher was gorgeous. Mr.
Johnson always threatened to remove our nail polish with something out
of the chemistry lab. Our drama teacher was Miss Beaney very pretty lady.
We had a really ditsy english teacher but I cant remember her name. Anyone
remember Muriel Pearson, Murial Ayre, Carol Pascoe, Sandra Phillips, Janice

Joan Wilkinson, I don't know that it was ever Seaham Grammar. The
school started life in 1964 I think as SGTS Seaham Grammar Technical School.
The name changed to SNSS Seaham Northlea Secondary School around 1971.
It was still that in 74 when I left. I was thinking about some of the teachers
there last week when I was talking to someone about performance related
pay for teachers. Here's a list of SGTS/SNSS teachers who would NOT have
deserved it. John Pye - Music Teacher, Jehovah Witness and complete nutter.
Ken? Shute - Music & Latin Teacher - I never stayed in his classes
long enough to learn anything. Alan "Chain" Johnson - Maths - "If there's
nine things I can't stand it's Ken Phelan". Sam the Slipper was familiar
with my arse on a regular basis. Miss Pickering - Art Teacher - Did she
never realise that when we dropped our pencils on the floor they always
rolled under her desk somehow? Miss Apps - Geography? French? - Every class
a riot. Mr Sugarman - French - I did see him in school once, honest. Mr
Redhead - PE - Spelled your name out on your backside with a flipper or
a sawn off cricket bat if you'd done something wrong. Why did he make us
play football on the field when there was six inches of snow? Also hosed
you down with really cold water as you left the swimming pool. Any chance
of putting in a claim for child abuse? Mr Race - French - Used to walk up
and down the class knuckling people on the head. Miss Robinson "Nana" -
Geography - Well actually she wasn't too bad, nice old bird. Anyone remember
any more? I was just thinking, how did I get an education with this lot?
I aint telling

I attended Northlea school around 1976, when did the school go from
Northlea Grammer to Northlea Comp? Is the SMS school still there and Camden
square? Havent been back to Seaham for a while. We had to wear a uniform
at Northlea, a lovely grey skirt, white shirt, blue/red/white tie and a
navy blazer, grey socks and black shoes, there was one teacher Mrs Wake
with her blood red lips never did see her smile!! Did the uniform go away
when the school wasnt a grammer school anymore? I dont remember the Headmasters
name but we used to call him Batman because he used to wear a black cape
I think he was german, I know he had an accent. Also Miss Ferguson she
was an English teacher - she was brilliant. Anyone who remembers any more
teachers it would be fun to hear about them (now that I have left school!).

What is Seaham Town Council coming to? My Mother recently passed away
and was buried in the top left side of Princess Road cemetary. My family
have since learned that the cemetary rules stink. We have been informed
that we are not allowed to have a surround for the grave, although the majority
of graves in other areas of the cemetary have them. This is due to the
fact that it is easier to ride straight over the top of our loved ones on
grass-cutters, and more cost effective, than it is to maintain around the
graves. If these rules exist due to lack of council money, less of our Council
Tax money should be spent on football pitches, cricket pitches, bowling
greens and the likes (which the majority of Council Tax payers are not allowed
to use anyway), and more should be used to maintain our cemetary to a higher
standard. If any councillor wishes to comment, please feel free, as we would
like to hear your views.

I think the bike club is a great idea. The less kids hanging
around the streets means the less chance of something happening to them.
I remember living in Seaham and we almost had a youth centre until a few
individuals messed it up, and it was cancelled. For all those on the page
who only want to see things fail, isnt there an alternative guest page
for you to chat on, leave this page for the do-gooders we want them. Good
luck with the club, I hope you get your donations, if I lived closer I
would donate a couple of bikes myself.

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me, I'm trying to locate
a copy of a documentary made in Seaham in the early 70's. It was called
"Life under ground", it was filmed by Granada Television and the director

I can get one please get in touch. If Gillian is reading this in Sussex,
I hope the floods didn't effect you to much.I'll be in touch soon.

I am writing on behalf of Treckers Cycle Club (Trained, Right, East,
Coast, Kids, Event, Rider, Scheme. ) Mr A Henry Secretary. We are a new
Cycle Club, based In Seaham. Our aims are to get kids of the streets, and
into a useful positive use of there time. All our kids come from under
privaliged family situations. Seaham Police are in favour of this Treckers
Club, as it helps give the children something to do, instead of hanging
around street corners. We are training the children to do a Bridge-Bridge
event from Wearmouth Bridge to Forth Road Bridge in Scotland. They already
have done Haswell to Hart fun day. We are looking for anybody that has old
Bikes that they dont use anymore, as our club is growing, and we need more
bikes. All bikes would be gratefully recieved, and would be well taken care
off. If you have any bikes to donate to us, we have transport to collect
them. Ours kids would be very gratefull. If there is any Businesses out
there, who would like to Sponser there Town and kids, we would be very grateful,
as more sponsership is needed as the club grows. Treckers is waiting to
here from you. Any kids out there who would like to join Treckers, just pop
a e-mail to the address below, and membership is FREE. Please e-mail Sue,
on any of the above issue's at SUE123JOE@ICQMAIL.COM Thanking You

absence from home(seaham), i was amazed to find some silly irrelevant
and dangerous roundabout at the bottom of station road by the old people's
home. More amazed at the 2 width restrictions on station road itself. judging
by the scrapes on them some cars obviously weren't lucky in getting through.
We had to brake sharpish. It's not exactly Piccadilly and to my mind just
increases the danger to pedestrians and other drivers alike. I guess someone's
job could be at risk if they don't keep slapping these things everywhere
you turn. And what a total waste of money to boot. A decent zebra crossing
would have been more effective. max

Forgot to mention I went to see "Billy Elliot" at the cinema last
night it was fantastic... Most of the scenes were shot in Easington, there
was also a good shot of the Dawdon Viaduct near the Green drive, and a
brief shot of the Dawdon Welfare inside and out.. Not sure about the boxing
ring scenes , does any one up there know where this was filmed,I suppose
it could have been a studio, but I seem to recognise the building. Let me
know!!! Any way for those of you out there who want to see Easington in
all it's glory, some nostalgic shots of Seaham during the miners strike
and a witty story line, then go see the film it's a really great .....

I would just like to bring to everyone's attention the plight of Ropery
walk nursery school. It is a fine school with much to recommend it, but
Seaham dock company in cahoots with the council have chosen to surround
it with warehouses!!!Now think of it.....trying to teach very young children
in the middle of a work site. The dust, the noise, the lack of light!!
Now I know it won't bother the council and the dock company that children
will have to be tought in this victorian environment, they think of little
else but profit. but please remember come voting time to show these shower
of ***** the utter comtempt they so richly deserve. Get rid of these loosers

I Used to live in Seaham, Ash crescent, and would love to hear from
a friend I lost contact with in 1990, His name I remember was Les, he was
on his own looking after his two children, a boy then aged 10/11 and a
girl, Victoria aged 2/3. We used to chat while waiting outside Princess
rd Jnr School for our children. I often think about you and the children
and would love to know how you are all getting on.

That's better! The spelling's really coming along. Not sure about
this obsessive/ruminative feeling you have for the word 'original' though
I can understand your desire to make this the keystone of your life. I'm
sure that - given time - you'll get the re. Perhaps Josephine will light

Given the adoption so many aliases (P Catching, C Cole, B Breed etc.)one
would think there might be some capability for an original thought among
them.Sadly, cretanism is alive and well.Poor fella has never had an original
thought in his life, hence hi s contributions here are a sort of defence
mechanism for failure.

Perth, W.Australia - Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at 09:09:52 (CDT)
For James Bruce Reid who, with a handle like that must be a Scot,
I have part of the answer he seeks.(1)Australia will, without doubt, become
a Republic. The recent referendum failed to gain public approval because,
quite simply, they got the method of asking wrong! The result was confusion
and people essentially voted to stay as is. They will get it right eventually
however, and will become a Republic within 5-10 years, perhaps less.(2)
New Zealand will definately become a Republic, perhaps sooner than we think
and before Australia. If the will to do it is clear in NZ, then it will
be easier to achieve because NZ has one government, Oz has six State governments,
a federal government, and one territory. Why will they do it? Because thay
are grown ups no w, and not children of Mother England, and in fact haven't
been for years. There is also the matter of Perfidious Albion which took
everything both countries had to offer in two world wars then dumped them
in favour of Europe.

There are some stupid people on the net who try to make everyones
life a misery. Ignoring such people normally ends up with them getting
bored, and eventually they go away to try to annoy some other poor soul.
I wouldn't lower myself to mention any n ames and it would pay you all to
ignore the very presence of such a low life. This is still a good web site

it. Alan Dobson.

Hello Antipodeans , Although not very political , I nevertheless have
a certain curiosity about motivation etc. and was wondering two things ,
viz.: - 1)Why Australia managed to convince itself that it was better off
with a redundant figurehead who lives thousands of miles away , and is impossible
to criticise without the instigator being regarded as "an unfeeling peasant"
, as head of state . Al l this , mind you , in tandem with the chastisement
of the elite in OZ by Paul Keating for its love of "gongs and Ks" and the
reciprocal affection shown to ANTZACs in various theatres of war (in common
with the British working man) and the rather sudden w ithdrawal of UK subsidies
, when Britain wished to enter into the "common market" , which is strangely
parallel with the treatment given to British fishermen when the UK governmewnt
generously "donated" a share in their fishing grounds to the citizenry of
mainland europe . 2)Whether the Kiwis will be equally puzzling if and when
the time comes . Please note that the above questions may be erroneous or
biased in content or emphasis and may bear no relation to the true state
of affairs under consideration . I may in fact be a raving idiot BUT this
does not mean that there is nece ssarily anything wrong with my sense of
smell . Yours very Sincerely , One Scotsman they did not Transport (with
delight or otherwise)

There can be little doubt that Madheed assumes multi-persona, though
probably not from Seaham. If he is it is likely to be one of the stupider
areas. He can still be read like a book however, albeit a short one with
many blank pages torn out in the toile t.He is impotent of course but fantasises
about a non-existant sex-life, in which the accessories include a wet-suit
complete with mask and flippers, and a well thumbed copy of Mayfair. His
vocabulary includes eighty-seven words for toilet but is otherwis e severely
limited and can only be understood by dogs.At the Mill, people buy him
drinks in the hope he will pass out. He's probably constipated, but loves
visiting the hospital for relief.Sad really!!

Dammit. I'd have thought the guestbook of the best town in the NE would
be contributed to by a slightly better group of people than Madheed - obviously
a prat who either has a grudge against Seaham or just likes to terrorize
guestbooks, in which case h e's a bit of a sadist. I was effectively brought
up in Seaham (Moved there at 6, moved away at 11, now 14) and loved every
minute of it. And if John Faulkner ever visits this guestbook, Hiya John!
^_^ Anyway, just try to keep up the good work with the site (really sugoi,

We all need a little drivel in our lives, some people just don't know
that. They suffer from drivel deprivation which has an effect ( as with
Macafferty)similar to verbal diarrhoea, which results in the discharge of
large numbers of meaningless phrases purloined from another source.

It may be tedious and it may be repetitious to hear the drivel written
in this guestbook by certain contributors who get excitement whenever their
childish pseudonyms are referred to but is this not the way of the world.
If it were not for the moronic thoughts of neanderthals like these, Hitler
would never had come to power, hooligans would not inhabit the football
stadiums, and grafitti would not decorate the country. Lets be fair. Who
needs Art, Music, Literature when we have the talented individuals that
allow us to partake in their deep and meaningful thoughts?

Looking for any relatives of Margaret Ann ANDREWS nee WRIGHT (My Mum)
who was born at Sunderland on 23.2.1914. She was the daughter of Henry
George WRIGHT and Elizabeth BAXTER and moved with family to Seaham when
a small child. She moved to London when quite young and has lost touch with
her family who we know are still in the Seaham area. We would love to hear
from anyone with information.

Hi all, Greetings from South Africa. I will be over in England in mid-August.
My gran was born in Seaham Harbour and I am trying to find out if the places
she remembers are still around. I am hoping to visit them and bring back
some wonderful memories for her. P lease can you tell me if Aline Street
still exists, if it is still residential, and also if St. Johns Church
is still around. Your help will be greatly appreciated. I will be in England
from 17/8/00. Kind Regards Tracy Botha Johannesburg, South Africa

If indeed the Mr madheed saga has got Seaham recognised around the world
this may be no bad thing! Look at th turkish chap who achieved cult status
and now has lucrative contracts. Who knows, Seaham could be sponsored to
have a CyberParc for Hi-Tech In dustry! The WWW is about freedom of speech
and as long as no laws are being broken I believe that all entries should
remain. Since when was this a moderated Guest book?

Congratulations Seaham, the saga of Mr Madheed is gaining cult status
within my circle. Seaham sure sounds a pretty little place; do you get

isn't this against his religion? Have a nice one.

Hello fellow Seahamites! Just a quick note to say how good the guestbook's
looking these days! I've been offline for a few months while I've been
working on research at the South Pole. It's cold down there but things are
hot on Seaham.com! My favourite s are MR Madheed and his defender and mate
C Cole ( very witty pseudonym.) I'm not convinced that they're all genuine,
especially the 'happy clappy Christian' from America! I dont't agree with
the Julie Brookes person when she asks Ed to "clean up" the gu estbook.
Who said this was just a tracing place for genealogy freaks? Just when it's
getting interesting! Keep it up Seahamites............best on the web! PS

guy he is. Also, someone had the nerve to write in a "religious script"

right state and name.) This guest book has been spoilt - I no longer find
it interesting as it is just filled with rude and insulting comments by

Why don't you people who just use this Guestbook to squabble and complain
and argue with each other just exchange phone numbers or addresses so that
you can do just that in private and leave this NICE Guestbook to NICE people
who want to correspond with some dignity and decency. Go back into the
woodwork you came out of and then when you are fit come back out and behave
like decent Humans instead of like some kind of Garbage. Your Town is trying
to improve it's image but with the nonsense I am seeing on here now it's
a lost cause. Why don't you try giving it a lift instead of all this stupid

I bring you all the word of The Lord! To all the dear souls of Seaham
I bring good tidings. The Sweet Lord Jesus has spoken to me! Yes, he came
to me today as I was cutting my toenails and listening to Queen on the
car radio. "Josephine" he said, "take my word to Mr Madheed and his friends,
though the Mill Inn is near Cuthies I cannot be heard there because of
all the noise from the A19" So it is, dear friends, that I ask you to kneel
and offer up your thoughts to The Lord! Let Mr Madheed be your guiding star.

by use of the hackneyed phrase "get a life." I challenge you Mr Boring

exactly what that means.I bet you haven't a clue because you are simply
complying with the trend of using phrases you don't understand, but feel

First, I would like to comment on the message that was left for me the
other day. Whoever you are, I am not from North Carolina, I am writing
in from Illinois. Second, I am so tired of reading all these boring entries
in regards to "Mr. Madheed." You are acting like a child; your negative
behavior is giving you the attention that you so desire - I am very sorry
for you that negative, obnoxious behavior is all that you have to offer
to represent the town of Seaham. Again, may I suggest to you please, find
something positive in your life and in others around you - there are people
in this world who are so much worse off than you - and all you do is complain
and complain and then not have the intelligence to do something about your
depressed state of l ife. Please, find God - go to church and pray, find
good positive friends to be around who will help enrich your life so that
you can see the beauty in all your blessings. I do not know your real name
- I wish I did, because I would like to help you; my prayers are with you.
God Bless! Jacqueline.

Dr Panglos, So what if someone who lives so far away from Seaham still
thinks so well of it. You might have a point about being away from the
area enhancing your view of it, but it also could be something to do with
the fact that it is our roots, where we come from a nd I for one will always
think of the area as home even though I haven't lived there for about 7
years. The place itself may not be up to much, but it isn't just about buildings,
scenery etc. It's about people and memories. I've lived in Kent and now
Hampshire and in my opinion there is more friendliness and passion about
the North East as a whole than anywhere down south. And finally on the subject
of Mr Madheed. No matter how irritating he may be portrayed as, he has a
right to his opinions, but I think we all know now that he thinks Seaham
is crap and that he likes his LCL at the Mill. It might be an idea for him
to writ e something different to prove to all the doubters that he does
have some sort of brain and has more than 2 opinions inside him. But all
of you having a go at him with what he might see as " your big words " just
make yourselves come across as very patronising which is not a good quality
to have. Critisism is good, belittling someone is completely the opposite.
After all I would imagine we all started off in the same place. Seaham.

What do you mean speeling mstike Doctor Panglos my good man. I think
she meant to say "disresectful". Anyway Mr Lister I've been checking the
midwife records of births from 1800 to 1870 ( everyone from Seaham always
keeps them close at hand, if only to prove their friends wrong when they
call them that name ) and the Seaham Electoral Roll from 1930 to the present
day and I find no record of any Madheed. DD, DDT or otherwise. You're pulling
our leg.

I wonder whether I might address the comments of Ms Markie who addresses
this guest book from North Carolina. How interesting that someone who thinks
so well of Seaham has chosen to live so very far off. Distance lending
enchantment to the view perhaps ...... It's always interesting to see how
the illiberality of the extreme political right consistently demands that
all who disagree should 'shut up'. Perhaps this lady, who wants Mr Madheed
"removed" should reflect a little upon the caring and inclusive tenets of
the religious movement that she so enthusiastically espouses. I notice that
she includes herself, so humbly, amongst the "intelligent people of the
human race" yet, in the same letter she manages to offer us a number of
errors of spelling and grammar. A biblical quotation concerning 'motes and
logs' springs to mind. I would finally, and wearily, also point out to Ms
Markie that every square inch of the planet has, to quote her letter, "history
dating back to the times of the Normans and the Saxons". The mere fact of
existence does not make Seaham a more worthwhile sp ot than any other. Perhaps
the good lady had some other meaning in mind, if so, she did not manage
to make it plain. Three out of ten I'm afraid.....could do better? Perhaps.

Gentlemen, gentlemen. Is it jealousy of Mr Madheed's new-found cult status
that has reduced you to this squabbling? There is room in this guestbook
for all sorts, as the good Mr M's contributions prove. To look down on
anyone from the lofty social heig hts of Sheffield is, indeed, a triumph
of hope over rational thought. Bitter missives from the New World suffer,
I fear, from a similar failure of logic. I may be speaking out of turn but
I feel I ought to reveal that the person we so respectfully call "Mr Madheed"
is, in reality, Dr Madheed DD. Doctor of Divinity and author of 'Flowers
of the Field' the definitive west of England herbiary. This book, publ ished
first by the SPCK in 1876 and reprinted in eighteen editions before being
published by Kegan Paul (12 editions from 1892 to 1912.)is a work of reference
'sans pareil'. The good doctor is now the eldest surviving Seaham resident
and has received numerous telegrams from HM the Queen. I would ask you to
treat him with a little more respect and care.

Ah! A pseudo-intellectual who would have us accept cool analysis while
spouting meaningless cliche. Antipodeans and colonials indeed! If you can't
dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with your bullshit eh! Interesting
meditative comment is clearly not your forte, which really puts you in
much the same class as Mr. Heed, though I suspect you would avoid eye contact
with him for fear of your pretense being exposed.Your response is far too
structured to be either serious or considered. Get a life inde ed! At least
Mr. Heed is an honest idiot!

We should rejoice that Madheed and his ilk are around and welcome
his entries in this guestbook, although I'd prefer it if he found the capslock
key. Life, and the guestbook would be very dull if all we had were idiots
wishing us a happy new year in Ju ly ( that must have been some party )and
the invasion of the antipodean and colonial genealogists who add nothing
but inane questions. Get a life you lot, and Mr Madheed it's not where
you live that dictates what there is to do, it's how you live. I'm fro m
Seaham originally and have lived all over England, believe me everywhere
is the same, and people everywhere are the same. Madheed is obviously destined
to join the new undereducated, non-working classes, if he's not already
there. Where would we be if w e could not look down on them from our lofty
perch where we are in command of new technologies and relative wealth and
pity their plight and saw, there but for the grace of God go I. So young
Madheed, carry on. Oh and if you want to communicate with others of your
kind go and look at the Newsgroup uk.local.birmingham. Benny

I think it is such a shame that we, the intelligent people of this
human race should have to read the ignorant remarks of "Mr. Madheed." Please
can someone have him removed from the guest book. Or is England becoming
like our allied country - America where "Freedom of Speech" is becoming
misused and abused. Mr. Madheed if you do not like Seaham, then please just
keep your opinions to yourself or leave the town. Poor Seaham, no wonder
it has such a bad reputation with people such as you in the town who are
ignorant, rude, lazy, disresectful and a failure to the town; which may I
add, as much as I do not have such fond memories of my life in Seaham, one
must alway remember that Seaham is a very historical town with plenty of
history dating back to th e times of the Normans and Saxons, the Poet, Lord
Byron and of course there is plenty of history from world War II. Mr. Madheed,
please get a life and live it productively!

Greetings from the Panama Canal. My aunt, Meg Williams, a long time resident
of Seaham passed away recently at the age of 99. Many of the family members
from around the World were planning to have a reunion in Seaham for Meg's
100th birthday. However t his is not possible now. I last visited Seaham
and Meg in 1977. My, how time passes by! I will greatly appreciate if any
of you where are on the Internet and know of where I could maybe obtain
a copy of the newspaper obituary. Many thanks. Ronald J. Robertson, Jr.

Once again I find myself leaping to the defense of the erstwhile Mr Madheed
(he of the weak grammaticals.) General aspersions on the state of his intellect
do little to improve the tone of this fine guestbook. For those not conversant
with Mr Madheed's personal history I should like to relate the following
information which was passed to me by the late, and much loved, Poet Laureate,
Sir John Betjemann. It seems that Mr Madheed is the inventor of a little
known sytem of household electrification. He maintains a large tank of galvanised
steel in which live a large number of electric eels. These creatures are
trained to work together as a team and, between them, provide sufficient
of the electrical energy to power a refrigerator, two thirty watt lightbulbs
and one of Mr Hoover's carpet cleaning devices! (though not all at once.)
A man of such cleverness must surely be excused a little occasional unrulines
of the literacy. A native of our town of Seaham and a fine example of the
type, Mr Madheed stands among us as a beacon, let us not overlook his many
personal qualities.

Can anyone fail to remember, Sheila Waugh, Jean Mayhew and Mabel Hepplewhite,
from Dawdon Junior School in the early 1970`s, considering the building
was so decrepit, it can only be due to the teaching staff that it was such
a great place to be, even down to the penny Caramac bars that Sheila Waugh
dispensed if you were sent to her office to demonstrate your reading skills.
The smell of the outside toilets in high summer mixed with the aroma of
overcooked cabbage - children today just dont know what t hey are missing!
Do you remember the nature table, or being made to stand on the wooden
steps as everyone sang "Happy birthday" the huge wooden record player that
belted out "Morning" as we paraded out of assembly? Well, as Mabel Hepplewhite
prepares for retirement, all that I can say is, that whilst children today
may have computers, televisions and vcrs in every school, those of us who
went to Dawdon Infants had the most outstanding and memorable teachers you
could wish for. P.S.(Remember the geography teacher at Northlea who gave
Smarty Parties?) Lets have some teacher recollections.

Hello! This is a very nice web-site. I came across it while I was trying
to research my grandmother's heritage. Her grandfather, Ralph Hush, resided
in Seaham Harbour in the 1870's until he met an untimely death while in
his 30's. According to Seah am Harbour history, he and several other men,
John Jefferson, James Coyle, Robert Miller, and Joseph Hall drowned in
a freak boating accident on June 26, 1873. He is recorded as having been
a bottlemaker by trade. He and his wife, Margret, lived in Seah am Harbour
for a few years and Margret gave birth to two daughters while living there,
Margret and Frances. They also had three other children prior to moving
there, Elizabeth, Ralph, and Henry. Margret moved back to South Shields
after Ralph's death an d married a gentleman by the name of Nicholas Close,
who had three children, Robert, Margaret, and Joseph. If anyone has any
information about Ralph, Margret Hush or their children or Nicholas Close
and his children, please write me as I would greatly ap preciate hearing
about them. This city looks like a great place! Would love to see it someday.

I spent my formative years in Dawdon, attended Dawdon County Juniors school
then Seaham Comprehensive until 1985.My family moved from Seaham in October
1985 and took residence in Durham. Regrettably,I lost contact with many
friends despite only moving the short distance. However,Iam glad to say that
my work as a local goverment employee keeps me in touch with Seaham residents.
It's a wonderful site and the organisers should be congrtulated. Well done
Seaham, here's to a bright and successful future to the town and all its
residents.Hope to see many of you at the Durham miners'Gala on July 8.

It is about once every week or two weeks where I visit the Seaham guest
book. Over the past two months I have been horrified to read some of the
terrible comments on the guest book, which I am sure most people find offensive,
especially if they have l ived in Seaham all their lives. I am talking
about people who must have nothing else to do, other than to spoil and ruin
the "once " pleasent guest book. At one time it was a place where people
could visit and get in touch with old friends. Now it seem t hat these people
have just completely spoilt the whole purpose of the guest book. What you
are doing, the people responsible, are acting in the same manner as you
are accusing the town of Seaham to be. So, maybe if you left the town -
then it would be a better place!!! I no longer live in Seaham, and have
not for the past 13 years. However, I grew up in the town and though I do
not have such high regard to the town or to some of the people, I have seen
worst places. I do a lot of humanitarian work in Am erica with the very
poor and beleive me, there are a lot worse places than Seaham. So go put
you mind to work, go back to school get an education, travel and please
find your work ethics and learn about the world and how you can do something
positive and productive to help Seaham or else where.

Hopefully we have found the cause of the evil Popup advertising window
that has given problems over the last few days. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Just for the record the advertising had nothing to do with anyone at Seaham

an individual saying he was from Yorkshire. We are now trying to trace
his ISP to have him blacklisted.

My apologies for the problem we seem to have with the POP-up advertising
window. It is not our doing! We have removed the Miners Banner link but
have since discovered that all links on the GuestBook are affected. I have
managed to add this to the Gues tbook by disconnecting from the inernet
after loading the page. I then re-connected and the links were working
normally. We are doing what we can to sort out the problem so please be
patient.

To Lesley Roberts. I guess you are referring to the fact that we re-organised
the Guestbook to separate out the 1999 and 2000 comments. Sorry if this
caused you a problem Lesly but we do this to keep the size of the Guestbook
file down so that it loads more quickly.

DEar Eddie Mason I know this site is expensive for you to maintain but
enough is enough. I added a favourite to get into the guest book (where
I always visit first) then as showing some business associates photos of
Seaham when we went to go back into the guest book for them to make a comment
I had to add ANOTHER FAVOURITE that is just bloody ridiculous. I've visited
this site regularly since it began and am very disappointed. It really
irritated my assocites who thought it very unprofessional. So much for my
attempt to get them interested in Seaham and possibly getting a donation
from them for the Banner Fund!!!

Hello from Australia.... My great grandfather George Johnson was a Coal
Miner who worked at Murton Colliery his son Robert was a driver at the
pit in 1881. The family immigrated to Australia in 1884 he worked in the
mines at Mount Kembla and Newcast le & Hunter Valley Mines. The family
went back to Durham but we have not any records except that one daughter
married a fellow surname Watson & another married a Harman who had
a son Harry. In 1881 they were living at 8 King Street Elvet Durham. They
had lived at various places such as Old Pelton, Shotton, Brandon as well
as Murton. His wife was a Muncaster from Shotton. He had been born at Broomside.
Can anyone shed some light on this family. Any information about Murton
Colliery would be appre ciated.

much fun with many more. So where is Ann Rawling(heard from your sister

Jeff Bevin, Alan Cook, Peter Phillips? and chillhood best friends Sheila

Great to visit the site. I just stumbled across it while looking for
family history information on USHER or WATSON. Strange how small a place
the world is these days, I've seen entries on the site from a next door
neighbour who left for Canada in 1966 !! Also a message from the footy team
goalkeeper at Northlea School, 'Talent Johnson' most will probably remember
me as 'Tush'. Would be interested in anyone who remembers me from skool
or has any family history information. Thanks Steve Usher

examples being: 1st year torturing techniques, the school maggot heap,
being thrown in the sandpit, the outside toilets and the unofficial end of
term cramming into of said place by all the nutters, the teachers, the pupils
and does anyone remember what was taught there. I remember these nicknames:

Hello Seaham, My son found this site, gave me quite a thrill I was born
in Stanley St North in 1931 and my father Harry was a miner at Vane Tempest. He
was a town councillor and JP for many years. My primary school was in Station
Rd and then Byron Terrace with Mr Clish? This was followed by SIS till
14yrs old. I then was an apprentice electrician at Seham UDC so knew all
the towns streets and reading the guest book brought a few memories back.
Did National Service in the RAF in 1949 at 18yrs then back to NEEB at 20
yrs. At 22 I enlisted in the RNZAF and served for 26 yrs. After this I
was with the Forest Service and Dept of Conservation in the communications
field. I retired in 1993 and live in a small village just out of Christchurch
We have a son and two daughters and 3 grandchildren all in Christchurch. My
hobby is Amateur radio and Im very active on all bands. My wife Lorraine
is an electronic organist and belongs to a group of 350 fellow players
in the area. So if any of you get down this way feel free to look us up.
I will be in Seaham later this year about June on a nostalgia trip.So will
look forward to catching up with old friends, Terry White,Tommy Littledike
and all I can catch up with. Please feel free to mail me. All the best
from down under Jack.

no immediate family left in seaham but have a sister and her family in

though tiome has stood still. perhaps now that the pits have closed and
an aternative economy now exists that the old seaham that was will once
again prevail. hope this starts a healthly deba te on the future of my birtplace

Wonderfully original site - makes me want to come and live in Seaham!
My father Joseph Spence was born in Seaham 19.02.03, brother to Robert
Spence who married Annie Thompson, Jackson Spence who married Florence Smith,
James William (Uncle Billy) marri ed Lillian Nicholson, Jenny Miillicent
Spence married Joseph Tinkler and Bessie Rickaby Spence married Matthew

I am another one that found this site by accident. Actually looking for
some information on the Adam and Eve Gardens, as I found an old postcard
of it in Hastings NZ. On the back is a message to "little girl" from Aunty
Frances. Anyone know who this i s? I'm also wondering how my old school
friends are doing. (Seaham Comp 87-92) KATHERINE OLIVER, DAWN COULSON,
MELANIE SLEE, ANDREA SHIPLEY, CHERRIE McLOUGHLIN, YVONNE RUTLAND, ANGELA
PEEL, KAREN ROBERTS and anyone else that knows me and doesn't hate me. I
haven't been to Seaham for over a year now, so when I do get back it will
be interesting to see.

Well done Seaham, a great real-people-level website! Your site and the
nice communal feel of it - reflecting the evanscent warmth of the people
of Seaham, more than makes up for windy seafront images of questionable
art! This is a long message, but ancestry demands it… Instead of trendy
prentious twisted metal arty-farty stuff along the seafront, 'powers that
be' could have used the money to reflect, commemorate and honour the endeavours
& work of Seaham folk (past and present) and their lives much more accurately,
appr opriately and sensitively, to say nothing of the splendid marine, engineering
and mining heritage where Seaham has played no small part. Those sculptures
must have confused and upset locals greatly. Er, rapidly back into the smelter
is perhaps a wise dest ination. My family were born in Seaham but it's many
years since I visited the Harbour. In the 1950's I remember climbing the
(now Neptunian-owned) Featherbed Rock with my uncle Tom (Tommy Craggs -
one of Vane Tempest's blacksmiths). The rock even had a ladder par tway
once! I fondly recall many adventurous childhood holidays spent there -
Deneside was better than any Disneyworld could ever be. Only trouble was
that I always spoilt my Sunday best clothes after chapel when we chased
& raced back to Parkside, sometim es involving a not quite accidental
push or slip into the Dene itself. Then a clip around the ear ensued. Tears,
fears and laughter. Out of curiosity, I ran a search on my old man's name
- and ended up on your site. I was really amused to discover a family legend
that correlates with your information onsite: the first man born in Seaham
was my great-great-great (or something) grandfath er, explaining also why
my father was Christened similarly. I just haven't done the inbetween geneology
bits, remembering 92 cousins from childhood is a touch duanting. I still
have a smashing Aunty living in North Lea. Generations of local schoolchildren
might be indebted to her for school dinners and ever winning cheery smile!
Local family names that mean something to me are Craggs, Readymarcher, Coulton,
Billy Fern, the Squires, Dobsons, Shaws, Truetts in Murton, late Ernie Paterson
- a quiet star, Ala n Guy senior - heh, what a fella. I recall him presenting
me with fresh nippy crab for tea, live from the quayside as I had just arrived
from London. His music serenaded many Seaham ears too. I miss the real pastry
and tasty bread that only Seaham could b ake. Another Aunt: Maureen Varley,
neé Coulton, was Methodist preacher and a (no-messin') master bakeress
on Station Road. Murley's was it called? That's over fourty years ago. She
made the best lemon/tangerine, cream & sponge cakes on the planet. All
tho se lucky people around Station Road quietly enjoying creme de la creme,
on a daily basis, while I only enjoyed it, twice a year at most, on visits.
Alas, now the lady is very paralysed after a stroke. Oh yes, I've just
remembered before the war (WW2) me mam worked at Martin's garage opposite
Seaham station. Here's one for the real Parish Records: In 1973, somewhat
unbelievably, your local under-Bishop and the vicar of the family church
near the Mill Inn, forbad me from scattering or resting my mothers ashes
in or near my family ancestral graves, finding some obscure local church
byelaw that allowed them to do so. What a strange way to treat the oldest
family in Seaham. I felt very upset, having travelled 600 miles to execute
my mam's special wish, so I took them instead to Glastonbury Tor. There,
at dawn, I figured I had their Boss's direct permission without any intercession
by self-elected pre-possessed bureacratic priesthoods. Finally what is known
about the several streets of old Seaham now lying offshore surrendered to
the North Sea? I used to hear a lot about this as a kid. I hope Valente's
ice cream shop still exists. It used to offer the best outside Sorrento
I'd say. Heaven! Keep smiling Seaham :{>

I organised a reunion last October for everyone who attended RRGS from
Sept '61 and July '68 (everyone should be 50 this academic year). It was
a great success! We had a magic evening! Many old aquaintances were revived
and many of the people present h ad not seen some of the others for over
30 years. Next year, I hope to organise a 'school trip'. Details are a
little vague at present, but the plan is in place. If anyone out there was
not at the reunion and would like to get in contact, I will send them details
in due course. Needless to say, the fif ty or so who attended will have
the first option on this once in a lifetime experience!!! Watch this space.

I would appreciate information on the Robinson family the last of whom
left Seaham in 1910. I have some names and dates from an old family bible.
It is as follows: Thomas Robinson, born December 15, 1831 -died June 23,
1897 and his wife Ellen born in 1 822(3) and died April 17, 1891. They
had three sons that I am aware of - George Robinson born Oct. 15, 1855
died in 1902, William Robinson (my husband's grandfather) born April 20,
1850 Died February 14, 1937 and Joseph Robinson, born September 22, 1865,
died July 4, 1893. William and his wife Mary-Ann Spurr emigrated to Canada
in 1910 with their two remaining children, Adam - born May 29, 1895 and
Ivy born August 9, 1902. They had two other children, Ellen born February
22, 1892 , died September 18, 1 904 and Jane-Ann, born July 11, 1898, died
October 1899. I presume these two children are buried somewhere in Seaham.
If anyone can give me a lead on this family it would be very much appreciated.
I am also in contact with the George and Mary Lawton fa mily, and their sons,
Stan, Rob and Ron who moved to Australia in the early 1950's.

daughters. I used to live in Seaham and my mother and father ran the Nac
in the early 70's. I remember LISA and KELLY (but cant remember their surname)
- and also hoping to contact STUART and SAMANTHA BROWN to see how they're
all doing.
